"I have a dream"......

My hero, Martin Luther King Jr., had a dream.  His dream involved loving our fellow man and woman.  Of all races and faiths.  It involved peace and justice.  It involved opportunity and respect. It clearly was a blue-print for the path forward.  It also represents my mantra.  I recognize how much Dr. King had to say to me personally today.  He would definitely reinforce my ability to influence my world.  He would recognize that my desire for equality for all human beings is a wonderful thing, not a thing to be ashamed of.  He would reinforce my need to provide myself the same respect I desire for others. He would definitely be my champion as I advocate for those living with mental illness.  In short, on this day....I'm remembering the influence he has had on my life.

Dr. King was a human being. But for me, he is bigger than life.  His courage and discipline are still an inspiration for me.  And I see the value his lessons have for our world today.  Racism, death, and war are not OK.  We are not a world of savages, unless we choose to be.  Fighting man's inhumanity to his fellow man is an admirable goal.  Reverend King showed us how important that struggle is. And because of that, I am remembering Dr. King.  With all the love, respect, and awe that my heart can hold.  He is still my hero.  I remember where I was when I heard about his death.  I was a child. My heart broke.

Today, we are more in need of his message than ever.  The struggle continues. For those of you who have never really listened to his "I Have A Dream" speech...do so.  Allow yourself to really hear what he is saying.  This truly is a man who had the insight and vision to lead us into a more just world. Allow him the opportunity to continue to influence and motivate you...

All my love.....
