This is what I learned in 2012....Happy New Year! Welcome 2013!

This is what I learned in 2012:

·         I learned that love is out there when I ask for it.

·         I learned that I have nothing to hide because I am human and others can relate.

·         I learned that when I am love, I attract love.

·         I learned that I can survive when I choose to.

·         I learned that when you share who you are, people let you know who they are.

·         I learned that there is always hope.

That is a lot to learn, huh?  I learned these lessons through some pretty tough times. I have had problems that many are experiencing throughout this country.  This doesn’t make the problems easier to handle.  It just makes it easier to not blame myself for what I can’t control.  I also learned the most important lesson of all…I am only responsible for making every effort I can to improve my life.  Every day I wake up determined to do that.  I get tired sometimes, but I continue putting myself out there.  I continue doing what I need to do.  And I reach out when I am tired and get supported.  And that feeds my soul.  So I am able to move forward.  After taking a rest.

I am not a big believer in making resolutions that don’t last past January 2nd.  If I am going to lose weight, I am going to do it one day at a time and endeavor to do so in a healthy way.  Although I have to admit that I have not always done that.  And I see it as something that I will have to choose on a daily basis.  Because that seems to be what works for me. So, what you won’t get from me are resolutions.  You will hear something about goals.

What do I want to accomplish in 2013?

·         I want to use whatever influence I have to continue to talk about mental illness.  And maybe change a few minds in the process.

·         I want to continue to offer support for those suffering.  And obtain support when I am struggling.

·         I want to be in conversation about how we can improve access to treatment and reduce stigma.

·         I REALLY want to change my financial situation and feel more comfortable.

·         I want to continue to work on my physical and mental health.

·         I want to get to know you and how I can help you.

·         I want to be living close to my daughter.

Of course, like you…I am imperfect.  I will fall down.  And I will get up.  I will make progress.  And then I will fall back.  So, I am bound to be disappointed at least some of the time.  I am sure that you experience the same.  I commit to being a support for you.  Let me know how I can help.  And I commit to letting you know how you can help me.

As always, I enjoy hearing about you.  If you are so moved, write and let me know about your goals.  I will support whatever you endeavor to accomplish.  Simply ask.  Happy New YEAR!  Come on in, 2013.  And take time to celebrate good times!
